Art Show 2009

Every spring our preschool puts on an art show. The little ones create original works of art in all sorts of mediums, which is then proudly put on display for parents and grandparents to come admire.

Art Show 2009 debuted on Friday with the theme "All Things Bright and Beautiful." Here are just a few shots taken by a proud mom:

"Plunger and PVC Pipe Print in Tempera" by Little Middle

"Still Life Watercolor" by Little Middle

In case you can't decipher this masterpiece, it is an interpretive painting of this:

Family Fun

The last couple of weeks have been kind of crazy, but our family has had tons of fun together! We went to see the Texas Rangers play at the Dr. Pepper Ballpark with some friends. It's the first baseball game we've attended all together. The boys (OK, me too) were more interested in the food, the souvenirs, and the giant mascot than the actual game, but we had a great time!
Baby loves cotton candy!

Happy boys

These two "monkeys" belong to Shannon. I love them dearly, and these crazy faces made me laugh HARD. Classic!

The next day I took my little cowboys to our church's Easter Eggstravaganza! They had a great time hunting for eggs, riding the ponies, jumping in the bounce house, and lounging on the lawn.

It didn't take long for the boys to track down some friends!

A few days later, Little Middle and Baby hosted their own Easter Egg Hunt for some of their preschool friends. It almost got rained out, but God showed mercy on their frantic mother and the sun broke through the clouds!

The mamas and some of the girls...sweet friends!

Finally, over the long Easter weekend we spent some quality time hiking on the trails around Lake Grapevine. Hubby had taken the two older boys out there a few months ago, but it was a first for Baby and me. At the last minute we decided to take Abby Dog with us. She had a great time (and showed surprising stamina for a short-legged, aging, overweight puppy love!)!

Off to a good start.

Mom and Dad are roughin' it!

Abby on the trails.
Toward the end of the day, she leaned in too far to get a drink from the creek and fell in. Goliath was quick to point out that we're lucky she can doggy paddle.

Taking a break...

On the way back down, Baby started complaining that he was tired. Daddy made him a deal: Walk down the hills, and I'll carry you up the slopes. I guess it was easier on dear old Dad to carry him like this!

He Lives!

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!" Luke 24:1-6

Today in Bible Study...

I asked for health that I might do great things,
I was given infirmity that I might do better things.
I asked for riches that I might be happy,
I was given poverty that I might be wise.
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men,
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need for God.
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life;
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing I asked for, but everything I hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am, among all men, most richly blessed.

Wow.

God’s love is meteoric, His loyalty astronomic, His purpose titanic, His verdicts oceanic. Yet in His largeness nothing gets lost; Not a man, not a mouse, slips through the cracks. How exquisite Your love, O God!
