It is 4:36 p.m. Guess what? I am posting this from my laptop while I'm sitting in MY OWN BED. Snoozing next to me is my beloved Abby dog. The sounds I'm listening to are my four guys playing Super Mario together in the next room. HOME SWEET HOME!!!
Really, not that much has changed since yesterday. I ate as much as I possibly could yesterday, but only made small dents in anything that was put in front of me. I think that having 12 inches of my colon cut out and my digestive system reconstructed is a pretty big deal--it's no wonder that nothing sounds too delicious. Lab work diffused concerns about an infection, so this morning when the doctor came in, my pleas did not fall on deaf ears. She gave me some stern warnings about what to look out for, what activities I can and can not do, who to call in case of emergency, and finally sent the nurse scurrying for discharge papers.
The greatest sight I ever saw was when Mom turned onto my street and I spotted Goliath and Little Middle riding their bikes up and down the sidewalk in front of our house. They ran to get their little brother, and the four of us shared a wonderful group hug. I didn't even care that I was wearing my pajamas for all the neighbors to see! I missed them SO MUCH...and apparently the feeling was mutual:

"Praise be to the Lord, for He has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to Him in song." Psalm 28:6-7

Hello
ReplyDeleteI just found you while researching a totally unrelated subject (well, thinking women and I suppose that includes us both but I am sure you follow)
So believing in synchronicity, do you mind if I pull up a chair and stay a while?
My two angels are little older than yours but I remember it all like it was just a month ago.
I wonder if another soul wishing you well, in all senses, would be welcome.
I am here in Surrey in England so you are really are beginning to conquer the world.
Wishing love and health
Angela
Hey Allyson,
ReplyDeleteGlad you are home. My laptop screen went black last week, so I am making adjustments using this old computer in the golf room. Found your blog.. I will check in everyday, if that is ok. I know this is a huge journey you are on, I don't know what to say except I love you because I have no experience with that mean old cancer darth vader... I know what it is like to have pneumonia, head injuries, births (3),knee operation, broken nose, plastic surgery on broken nose +57 stitches ( from ice skating accident) other various stitches, but nothing like cancer. So I haven't walked in your shoes, however, I am thinking about you everyday, and send my love.. Once when I couldn't eat, I ate fruit dessert baby food and jello. Also, I made the jello and then drank it with ice. My favorite was black cherry. This was when I had my bladder exploritory surgery, then couldn't eat. Maybe this will help. I will talk to you later and give the kids hugs from auntie Gigi. Also tell Clint that I found a unique new rare bookstore with all first editions in the store. It is in Amarillo and is run by a guy from Durango Colo. Signing off with love Aunt Gigi
